The Gregson Family have been living in the Eden Valley area for over 400 years.
Michael Gregson has enjoyed researching his ancestors back that far using local Parish Registers. Michael is the 5th generation shopkeeper for the Warcop shop.
Michael married Valerie Brindle in 1959 in Kirkby Stephen Parish Church,
Valerie and her mother Frances Brindle ran a drapery and baby’s clothes shop in Kirkby Stephen.
Michael and Valerie bought another shop in Kirkby Stephen in June 1976. This shop once belonged to Valerie’s grandparents and was opened as a tobacconist in 1892, it was sold out of the family in 1968, David now runs this as a SPAR convenience store.
Michael and Valerie have three children Andrew, David and Stephen.
Andrew is married to Anne and has two children Mark and Daniel
David is unmarried. Stephen is married to Jenny and has two children Tess and Scott.
Michael’s interests were his shop work, closely followed by his interest in local history.
Valerie has great interest in animal welfare, her home and garden
Andrew is a Clay Pigeon Shooter and has competed in Ireland and the UK shooting for 10 years on the England Team being captain twice.
David’s interest is Archery. He has been a Master Bowman for 10 years, he has shot for his country on several occasions.
Stephen was also an archer becoming Cumbria’s 1st Junior Master Bowman aged 17. Work and family are his current interests.
